Archbishop Johannes Liku Ada

Archbishop Johannes Liku Ada was born on Dec. 22, 1948 in Sanggala, Tana Toraja, South Sulawesi province. He was ordained priest on Jan. 10, 1975, and appointed auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Makassar Oct. 11, 1991. His episcopal ordination took place on Feb. 2, 1992. His episcopal motto is Illum oportet crescere (He must increase, John 3:30). Pope John Paul II appointed him Archbishop of Makassar on Nov. 11, 1994, after his predecessor retired. Archbishop Liku Ada headed the Indonesian Catholic bishops' Commission for Theology 2003-2006.
