Archbishop Peter Takeo Okada was born on Oct. 24, 1941 in Ichihara, Chiba Prefecture. He was ordained a priest on Nov. 3, 1973, and was appointed Bishop of Urawa on April 15, 1991. His episcopal ordination was on Sept. 16, 1991. Pope John Paul II appointed him Archbishop of Tokyo on Feb. 17, 2000. He was installed on Sept. 3, 2000.
