Archbishop Joseph Mitsuaki Takami, S.S. was born on March 21, 1946, in Nagasaki, Nagasaki prefecture. He was ordained a priest on March 20, 1972, and was appointed Auxiliary Bishop of Nagasaki on January 23, 2002. His episcopal ordination was on April 29, 2002. Pope John Paul II appointed him Archbishop of Nagasaki on Oct. 4, 2003. His installation took place on December 14, 2003.
