Bishop Joseph Chusak Sirisut, a fomer priest of Ratchaburi diocese, was appointed by Pope Benedict XVI as Bishop of Nakhon Ratchasima, northeastern Thailand, on Nov. 30, 2006. His episcopal ordination and installation took place on Feb. 10, 2007. Bishop Joseph was born in Bang Nok Kwaek in Ratchaburi province and studied at Sam Phran Major Seminary. He has a bachelor's degree in scholastic administration at the Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University, Thailand, and a Masters in Theology from the Maryknoll School of Theology, New York, USA. He was ordained a priest on May 11, 1984.
After ordination, he became the first headmaster of Daruna School in Ratchaburi. In 1986, he became administrator and director of the Ratchaburi Institute. In 1987, he was assigned to Kanchanaburi parish and later to Ratchaburi parish. In 1995, he was appointed assistant priest at St. Girolamo in Samut Songkram, and in 1997 diocesan bursar and chancellor. From 2000-2004 he studied for his Licentiate in Theology at St. Tomaso in Manila. When he returned to Thailand, he taught at Sam Phran Major Seminary and was also director of the Center for Cultural and Religious Research at Sam Phran College in Nakhon Pathom Province.
