Bishop Edwin Colaço was born on Oct. 2, 1937, in Uttan, Bombay Archdiocese. He was ordained a priest on Dec. 2, 1964. He was appointed Bishop of Amravati on April 1, 1995, and was ordained a bishop on July 30 that year. On Oct. 20, 2006, he was transferred to the Diocese of Aurangabad as its fourth bishop. He currently serves as Secretary of the Western Regions Bishops' Council and chairmanr the Women’s Commission of the Conference of Catholic Bishops of India (CCBI), which comprises the Latin-rite bishops of India.
