Bishop Julius Dusin Gitom was born on Oct. 14, 1957 in Tamparuli, North Borneo (now Sabah, East Malaysia). He was ordained a priest on Nov. 19, 1989, and was appointed Bishop of Sandakan on July 16, 2007. His episcopal ordination was on Oct. 15, 2007. He is the president of the Malaysia-Singapore-Brunei Episcopal Commission for Lay Apostolate.
