Bishop Martin Tetsuo Hiraga was born on Jan. 2, 1945, in Hanamaki, Iwate Prefecture. He was ordained a priest on Sept. 16, 1974, and was appointed Bishop of Sendai on Dec. 10, 2005. His episcopal ordination was on March 4, 2006.
