Bishop Philip Chao-ming Huang

Bishop Philip Huang Chao-ming was born in Hualien, Taiwan, on Aug. 23, 1954. He was ordained a priest on April 12, 1983 in Taitung. Before becoming a bishop in 1998, he had been chancellor, minor seminary rector, vicar general of Hualien diocese and assistant rector of the Taiwan Catholic Regional Seminary in Taipei. He was appointed as the Auxiliary Bishop of Kaohsiung on July 16, 1998 and was installed bishop on Sept. 26, 1998. He was appointed Bishop of Hualien on Nov. 28, 2001 and installed Bishop on Feb. 6, 2002. Bishop Huang is the chairperson for the Social Development Commission of the Episcopal conference.
