Bishop Yoohanon Mar Chrysostom Kalloor was born on May 19, 1994 at Kadammanitta, in Pathanamthitta. He completed his School education at Government High School Kadammanitta. Later, he joined the St. Aloysius Minor Seminary, Trivandrum, He was sent to Trichy for Philosophy and Theology. He was ordained a priest on May 5, 1973.

He started his pastoral ministry as the assistant vicar in parishes around Balaramapuram and served as Vicar in many parishes. Then he was appointed as the Director of the St. John's Hospital for the victims of Leprosy at Pirappancode. He went to North America as a missionary. When the Malankara Catholic Mission was started in North America, he was appointed as the Coordinator. In 1997 he was raised to the status of a Corepiscopa.

Pope John Paul II appointed him as the second bishop of the Eparchy of Marthandom on April 16, 1998. He was ordained bishop by Archbishop Cyril Mar Baselios on June 29 the same year.. He received the name Yoohanon Mar Chrysostom. On Jan. 25, 2010, Pope Benedict XVI appointed Bishop of Pathanamthitta (Syro-Malankarese).
