Bishop Gabriel Villaruz Reyes

Bishop Gabriel Reyes was born on Aug. 3, 1941, in i Kalibo, Aklan. (The late Archbishop Gabriel M. Reyes, the first Filipino Archbishop, was his uncle.) He was ordained a priest on Dec. 21, 1966, and was appointed auxiliary bishop of Manila on Jan. 20, 1981. His episcopal ordination was on on April 3, 1981. He was appointed Bishop of Kalibo on Nov. 21, 1992 and was installed on Jan. 12, 1993. He was appointed Bishop of Antipolo on Dec. 7, 2002 and was installed on Jan. 29, 2003. Bishop Gabriel Reyes is currently Member of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) Permanent Council and Chairman, CBCP Commission on the Lay Apostolate, as well as a member of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines itself
