Auxiliary Bishop Joseph Wenzhi Xing

Joseph Xing Wenzhi was born in Zhoucun diocese, Shandong province, on April 17, 1963. He has two elder brothers and one sister. He entered Sheshan Regional Seminary in 1983.

After his priestly ordination on June 2, 1990, Father Xing served in the seminary, teaching Church history and liturgy. He also was spiritual director of the seminary and helped the parish work nearby on Sundays.

In late 1997, he was appointed parish priest of Songjiang parish, head of Songjiang deanery and vice chancellor of the diocese. He became vicar general of the diocese and rector of Sheshan seminary in 1998, and he also headed the Church Affairs Commission of Shanghai. His term as rector ended in 2003.

On June 28, 2005, Bishop Jin ordained him auxiliary bishop of Shanghai. Bishop Xing has been approved by the pope and recognized by Chinese government. He accompanied Bishop Jin to Australia in 1990 and to Europe in 1999. In addition to his studies in the United States, he did short-term training in Hong Kong in 1994 and in the Philippines in 1995. Since December 2011, Bishop Xin faded from public sight.
