The diocese stretches over 21,405 square kilometers and covers three districts.


The total population was 7,346,000 at the end of 2005. (The population of the whole country is approximately 1 billion).


The languages used in the diocesan territory are Kannada, Tamil, Konkani and Malayalam.


The per capita income is 100 rupees a day (US$2.16 as of July 2006).


Trade and agriculture. Textiles, areca and paddy are major products.
