Annual workshop of Caritas staff held
The Catholic Bishops Conference of Korea’s Caritas Committee and the Caritas unit of the Diocese of Cheongju jointly organised the three-day event.
The annual workshop for the staff members of Caritas was held recently in Cheongju. It focussed on the methods to effectively communicate the activities of the Caritas to the public.
The Catholic Bishops Conference of Korea (CBCK)’s Caritas Committee and the Caritas unit of the Diocese of Cheongju jointly organised the three-day event, themed, "Caritas communication with the world".
It will also be the theme of the Sixth Convention of the Catholic Welfare to be held in October this year.
Secretary of the CBCK Caritas Committee, Father Francis Jung Sung-hwan, said that many priests and staff members of Caritas from all Korean dioceses participated to ponder upon diverse methods to communicate the activities of the Caritas to the public on the basis of the recognized necessity the Evangelization "ad extra".
The workshop saw group discussion on various issues like management of corporation, facilities, parishes, supporters and resources promotion, public relations, education and international cooperation.
Subcommittee for Educational Development under the CBCK Caritas Committee and Caritas Korea International introduced their activities. The Subcommittee said that it would publish the Guidelines for the Practice of Catholic Social Welfare, a reference for the field workers in carrying out their activities.
Executive Director of Caritas Korea International, Father Simeon Lee Jong-keon, introduced the purport, background, and action plan of the global campaign against hunger by Caritas Internationalis.
