His body lies in state at the Carmelite Monastery in Lawaan, Roxas City. He will be interred at the Capiz Cathedral on November 21 after the 9:30 am funeral Mass at the Carmelite Monastery.

Archbishop Gordoncillo passes away
Late Archbishop Onesimo Gordoncillo.

Archbishop Onesimo Gordoncillo, emeritus of Capiz archdiocese, 78, passed away on November 13 in Roxas City.

His body lies in state at the Carmelite Monastery in Lawaan, Roxas City.  He will be interred at the Capiz Cathedral on November 21 after the 9:30 am funeral Mass at the Carmelite Monastery.

A native of Negros Oriental, Gordoncillo was ordained a priest in 1961 and bishop in 1974 at the Dumaguete Cathedral.

He was appointed Auxiliary bishop of Dumaguete in 1974 until 1976 and bishop of Tagbilaran from 1976 until 1986.In 1986, Gordoncillo was appointed as shepherd of the archdiocese of Capiz, where he served until his retirement in 2010.

Incidentally, Capiz and Roxas City are among the areas hard hit by devastation caused by Typhoon Yolanda that hit Central Philippines on November 8.
