Ahead of the Chinese New Year of February 1, the Catholic community in mainland China has intensified works of charity and evangelization.

The faithful involved with the Group of Charity of various parishes in the Diocese of Jining in Inner Mongolia are bringing Christian love to the lonely, elderly and sick people often forsaken by their relatives. The faithful have turned hair dressers, cooks, family doctors and cleaners during their visits. The priests and the faithful volunteers have also been carrying the Holy Eucharists to Catholics.

The parish of Dong Hui in the diocese of Zhou Zhi in Shaan Xi province started preparations for the New Year with a formation course on evangelism, which was attended by 400 lay faithful from January 12 to 14. During the course, they shared texts of the Bible and experience of the life of faith, accompanied by an intense prayer.
