Chinese Catholics celebrate Pentecost with baptisms

The Catholic community in mainland China celebrated the Solemnity of Pentecost with the administration of the sacraments of Christian initiation, the profession of the vows of the Sisters and many other initiatives.

In the diocese of Xi An in the province of Shaan Xi, the sacraments of Christian initiation (baptism, confirmation and Eucharist) were administered to 15 adults, baptism to a child and a baby, and Confirmation to 23 young people on Pentecost. Bishop Dang Ming Yan of Xi An presided over the solemn celebration participated by thousands of faithful. Bishop Dang gave a copy of the Holy Scriptures and a picture of the Saints to those who received the sacraments, and asked them to "always open our hearts to the Holy Spirit".

During the solemn liturgy in the church of Jiu Jiang in the province of Jiang Xi, over two hundred faithful attended the celebration of Pentecost committing themselves to "forming a united community and in communion".

In the Diocese of Han Dan in the province of He Bei,13 religious sisters for the congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Ghost the Comforter professed their perpetual vows at Pentecost, after 8 days of spiritual retreat. The diocesan congregation is active in the pastoral field and social service.
