Korean Jesuits get new provincial

Father John Che-Chon Chong SJ will assume the office of the provincial of Jesuits in Korea on September 1.

Father Chong was appointed in May by Father Adolfo Nicolás, the Superior General of the Society of Jesus, to succeed Father John Won-sik Sin SJ, who has served as Korean Provincial for six years from September 2008.

Father Chong was born in Kwang-ju, South Korea in 1957. He studied Law in Seoul National University, before joining the Society in 1990. After studies and regency in Seoul, he was sent to Spain for his theology studies.
