Year of Faith, a new impetus for mission and unity
The meeting was organized by Father Francis Nadeem, coordinator of the "Committee for Ecumenical Solidarity" with the intent of combining the conclusion of the Year of Faith and World Mission Sunday.
Auxiliary bishop Sebastian Francis Shaw of Lahore has said the Year of Faith would create a profound spiritual renewal among Pakistani Christians. He was addressing an ecumenical gathering of more than 230 faithful gathered in Lahore recently.
The meeting was organized by Father Francis Nadeem, coordinator of the "Committee for Ecumenical Solidarity" with the intent of combining the conclusion of the Year of Faith and celebration of World Mission Sunday.
"The Year of Faith made us reflect on our lives; helped us learn more about Jesus Christ and this has strengthened our faith. Every Christian needs to personally experience who Jesus is in his life,” Bishop Shaw said.
Christian leaders of other denominations present remarked faith united all believers in Christ. Choir teams from different denominations sent a message of faith and hope through music and hymns.
At the beginning of the Year of Faith, leaders of the Catholic Church, the Presbyterian Church, Salvation Army and Anglican Church of Pakistan had approved a joint declaration where they committed to work together to proclaim the Kingdom of God; to concentrate on things that unite, avoiding those that divide; to continue to meet and pray together during the most important liturgical occasions; to promote events with common aims and objectives.
